Three contemporary plays at the Wartburg
First performance of the stage version based on the film "Toulouse" by David Schalko David Schalko has a cult following. Certainly in Austria - where the beautiful phrase circulates: "David Schalko is world famous in Austria" - but Schalko has also developed a fan base in this country. Not least the brilliant television series "Braunschlag", for which he was responsible for the script and direction, has made him famous. But the jack-of-all-trades Schalko also works regularly for the theatre: In his new two-person play "Toulouse", which the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden is giving its German premiere, Silvia and Gustav, a couple long since ready for divorce, meet one last time in a hotel room somewhere on the coast in order to bash out dialogue impact hits at each other in the best marital hell manner. The only stupid thing is that Gustav has told his new girlfriend, who is pregnant by him, that he is in Toulouse on business. But there, terrorists have just blown up the conference hotel ... What is "Toulouse" actually - comedy, period piece, well-made play or farce? A bit of everything. Cult, in fact.
