Rhythm in Cans
He loves "the elegance, the ease, the skill of the music and the wit of the lyrics of songs from that era. The whole entertainment industry had an enormously high level in the 20s and 30s." It was precisely for this reason that Ulrich Tukur founded the Rhythm Boys in 1995 with three like-minded people, reviving the old-fashioned dance band formation. Accordingly, it is mainly evergreens from mambo to foxtrot that the band reinterprets with great passion for entertainment and singing. But also original compositions are part of the repertoire of the four gentlemen, who like to call themselves the oldest "boy band in the world". On Sunday, November 21, 2021, Ulrich Tukur and his Rhythmus Boys will accept the invitation to the Alte Oper Frankfurt and, starting at 8 p.m., will treat the audience in the Great Hall to a good portion of "Rhythm in Doses," the title of their current program. They will not only perform the foxtrot of the same name from 1942, but also a selection of other popular pieces (such as "Sie will nicht Blumen und nicht Schokolade" or "In The Mood"), but also newer numbers such as "Anything Goes", "Tuxedo Junction" or "Goody Goody". Performing in the proven regular line-up are: Ulrich Tukur (singing, playing piano and accordion), Günter Märtens on double bass, Ulrich Mayer on guitar and Kalle Mews on drums.
