A natural grandeur is innate in her, plus the charismatic voice, the body trained in dance studies in Cologne and the air of the great wide world that blows around her: Ute Lemper was already a star in France and America long before she returned to Germany in triumph and has been celebrated as "La Lemper" every time she visits home since. The critical texts and the melancholy-swinging music of the successful duo Brecht/Weill are tailor-made for her.
Coolly analysing, striking to the core of capitalism and at the same time touching is also the biting satire "The Seven Deadly Sins", composed as a ballet by Kurt Weill in 1933 in exile in Paris. From 1990 comes Ute Lemper's first recording of the piece, which is rarely heard live and demands the full spectrum of artistic expression from its protagonist, who is split into two personalities.
