Wild and beautiful sound

Caspar van Baerle was a humanist, theologian and poet who lived in Amsterdam around 1600. A street near the Concertgebouw is named after him - this was the street where the three young musicians lived when they founded their piano trio in 2004 and named it after Van Baerle without further ado. Composers and their interpreters are also storytellers, preachers who want to reach an audience with their art, beyond mere reason. Beethoven was such a composer, especially the young one; his trios op. 1 of 1795 prove that the young savage wanted to be more than a piano virtuoso. The already established Tchaikovsky, who actually did not like the piano trio formation at all, gave himself a jolt after the death of Nikolai Rubinstein and wrote the Trio op. 50 in memory of his recently deceased teacher and patron. Hans Werner Henze sided with Beethoven again when he called for "freedom, wild and beautiful sound" for his succinct Chamber Sonata in 1948.
