As the largest bicycle experience fair in Hesse, the VELOFrankfurt will be a magnet for politicians, experts and thousands and thousands of visitors. True to the motto "Experience. Test. Buy." they can inform themselves in and around the Eissporthalle on the weekend 10/11 June about the bicycle in all facets.
About 200 brands and exhibitors make the area in and around the Eissporthalle on the weekend to Hesse's largest bicycle experience fair. On a total of 12,000 square meters, the action takes place: In addition to the Testival area, the large high-speed ring around the open air exhibition under the membrane roof, you can be especially excited about the large hall. This will be integrated into the trade fair for the first time. In addition to intensive consultations with bike dealers, manufacturers and experts, visitors can expect a packed stage, entertainment and hands-on program.
To this end, the organizers from the Frankfurt-based & Event GmbH, a brand of the regionally based Frankfurter Societät media group, have set six thematic priorities. First on the list for many is likely to be the e-bike megatrend. But also "Cargobike & Family", "Smart Cycling", "Bike & Travel" as well as the "VELOArt Exhibition" and the "Mobility Exhibition" offer a lot of information and whet the appetite for cycling.
E-Bike & Smart Cycling
Modern design and a young image - many e-bikes and pedelecs don't even look at the motor and battery anymore, but you can clearly feel the built-in tailwind! 55 e-bike brands can be tested for drive and operation at VELOFrankfurt. Mid-mounted motor, rear-mounted motor, speed pedelec or the extremely popular e-mountain bikes - no aspect is neglected. To get up to speed on the keyword "operation", it's worth taking a detour to the large "Smart Cycling" area. From the display that controls the drive, speed and light, it is only a small step to the on-board computer. Navigation, theft protection and much more can then be controlled via app.
Cargobike & Familiy
The topic of cargo bikes is picking up more and more speed: Countless projects throughout Germany and also other European countries are sounding out how the now mostly motorized pack mules can revolutionize delivery traffic in cities. This is interesting for Economics Minister Al-Wazir - but also for families: they can get comprehensive information on how the cargo bike can replace the second car. With them: Arne Behrensen. In addition, he will be moderating an exhibitor panel discussion on the stage of the adventure trade fair on Sunday entitled "Cargo bike as a family carriage".
Bike & Travel
Small everyday escapes - big adventures! Near or far, mountain or valley, with or without an electric motor, adventures are best experienced on a bike. You will find inspiration from regions and tour operators as well as suggestions from professionals at VELOFrankfurt. Maximilian Semsch is a cycling adventurer. The Munich native has already cycled over 50,000 kilometres on a trekking bike through more than 30 countries, but Semsch has seen very little of his home country. In four and a half months, he recently visited all 16 German states, covering 7,500 kilometres in the process. After the journey he had to realize: Home is where it's most beautiful!
"VELOArt Exhibition" & "Mobility Exhibition"
With bicycles and especially accessories for the velomobile life, the aspect of functionality has dominated until now. The VELOArt shows where it could go in the future. In the special show you will find haute couture for the cyclist of the world or - this is also an urban trend - you can demonstrate your environmental awareness even more strongly with accessories made of recycled material. Finally, the "Mobility Exhibition" in the small hall brings together players from the lobby sector, the political environment and infrastructure management. Whether the city's cycling office, TraffiQ, individual departments from the Ministry of Economics or the ADFC: they are all united by the goal of giving cycling the appropriate place in the future mobility mix.
Testival
Beyond the thematic focal points, one aspect stands above all others at VELOFrankfurt, motto: On the test tracks, get set, go! Billed as an all-day "test festival", visitors will be able to experience and learn what the bike is all about in summer 2017. The large high-speed ring as well as special bike, mountain bike and children's courses are ideal for extensive test rides. The innovative "Modular Pumptrack" - a circular course with 13 hills and four curves - allows for small training and racing sessions. During the VELOTours, e-bikes can be tested on relaxed routes through the city, one destination being the Osthafen. Extra bonus for racing bike fans: they can go on guided training rides with partner Ironman/Velothon and local cycling clubs.
