They are clearly repeat offenders, and that's a good thing: The Venice Baroque Orchestra and Giuliano Carmignola are always happy to return to Vivaldi and his virtuoso concert artistry. No wonder, since they not only share their homeland with the Italian baroque master, but in the two decades since their founding have earned the reputation of being the leading ensemble when it comes to the contemporary and lively interpretation of Vivaldi's concerto literature in particular. Carmignola and the Venice Baroque Orchestra confront their compatriot with some weighty contemporaries in this programme. The exciting realization on this evening, in which not only the friends of the baroque violin concert art absolutely get their money's worth: Even if the light shines differently north and south of the Alps even in the music - pure sensuality Bach, Vivaldi and consorts have composed their concerts on both sides.
