Frankfurt owes its tradition as a trading and imperial city to the Staufer emperors such as Frederick Barbarossa or Frederick II. Traces of the royal past can still be found in the city today, for example in the Saalhof Chapel. Here you will also find copies of the medieval imperial insignia - crown, sceptre and orb. Visitors embark on a journey through time and medieval Frankfurt is brought back to life for them. Various finds from the ground and objects made of metal, as well as seals and other objects and a large model illustrate the development of the Staufer-era city on the Main.
