The works of the musician and cartoonist Volker Kriegel at the Caricatura Museum Frankfurt. With the exhibition on Volker Kriegel, the Caricatura Museum Frankfurt presents an artist who had very close ties to Frankfurt am Main. Born in Darmstadt in 1943 and raised in Wiesbaden, his vocation and passion drew him early to the Frankfurt jazz scene to joint jam sessions with Albert and Emil Mangelsdorff, Fritz Hartschuh, Gustl Mayer and Rolf Lüttgens. Volker Kriegel established the style of jazz-rock nationally and beyond the German borders.
From mid-1990 Kriegel developed his oeuvre of drawings, characterized by a fine sense of humor and subtlety. His illustrated children's stories, which also established his international reputation, achieved high fame. In addition, he produced countless caricatures, cartoons and illustrated stories, sometimes in black and white, sometimes in color, sometimes without words, sometimes with small subtitles. Mostly these are about funny everyday situations, food and drink and of course music, art and philosophy. It's worth a visit!
The exhibition is on view until 27.1.2019.
