Vonda Shepard is one of the best-known American singer-songwriters, who got her breakthrough with her role as a pianist and singer in the favorite bar of the main character of the television series 'Ally McBeal'. In one of the first television shows to make music an integral part of the storyline, Vonda became an overnight star, selling 12 million albums worldwide. She also won two Golden Globes, two Emmys, two Screen Actors' Guild Awards and a Billboard Award for the most TV soundtrack records sold in history.
Born in NYC, Vonda Shepard moved to Los Angeles with her family at a young age. If you've ever seen the singer perform live, you might not be surprised to learn that she was already performing her own songs in small clubs at the age of 14. She played keyboards and sang with music greats such as Rickie Lee Jones, Al Jarreau and Jackson Browne, for whom she even opened for her at times. Vonda describes her performances with the Indigo Girls and The Funk Brothers as highlights in her career. After numerous album releases, thousands of concerts in venues large and small, and theater projects, she still loves performing her soulful songs live. "I have a tremendous amount of energy for music and life." the 53-year-old emphasizes.
