As part of the Goethe Festwoche 2018
The project links the pre-Christian, pagan myth with Goethe's popularization from the 18th century and the myth of the XX century with Hitler's suicide on April 30, 1945.
It is about Goethe's hell, so to speak, to bring Freudian aspects from Goethe's complete works into his Walpurgis Night incl. the corresponding Paralepomena, but also about the view from Walpurgis Night on our present or possible conditions. We pursue the question of how far the repressed, the buried, the traumatic and the nightmarish are preserved in the collective (sub)consciousness, transmitted and influence current actions.
