The Baroque concerts conducted by internationally renowned specialists will continue this season. Italian conductor and harpsichordist Alessandro De Marchi leads the Hessian State Orchestra from the harpsichord. He is chief conductor of the Academia Montis Regalis and artistic director of the Innsbruck Early Music Festival. The linchpin of the concert is Georg Philipp Telemann. He was Germany's best-known composer, style model and multi-talent: founder of the Collegium Musicum in Leipzig, municipal music director in Frankfurt, music director, opera house director and publisher in Hamburg. The programme includes his suite »La Bourse« (The Stock Exchange) from the Frankfurt period as well as compositions by Telemann's companions: he maintained a correspondence with Handel that lasted over 50 years. He was the godfather of the son of his friend Johann Sebastian Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel. Johann Mattheson inspired Telemann to write his autobiography and praised the century-old musician in his reviews.
