It's 2016, a listenership that has grown over the years is curiously awaiting We Invented Paris' third album and is surprised to discover that, for the first time in the band's six-year history, they haven't seen or heard from the European artist collective with Swiss roots in a long time. And this in times when many can hardly escape the expectation of being always present, always accessible, always available. We Invented Paris is doing what's best for the band and its head Flavian Graber at this moment. And that, in 2015, is withdrawal: from concerts, from social media platforms, from the outside. That's about time: for a book, for an extended thought or even one more, for meeting others and oneself. From the outside to the inside. From here, to suspend the familiar, to try out new sounds, to create and sometimes discard ideas, to conquer new instruments.
What has emerged from this preoccupation are outstandingly beautiful, versatile and mature songs that retain the group's established qualities while exuding freshness, newness, excitement. For example, the acoustic guitar that used to accompany Flavian Graber is on hiatus, and instead the singer has familiarized himself with a keytar. Excellently arranged pop songs in varied instrumentation, the excursions into genres such as indie, electro and rock with absolute naturalness undertake a visit to good friends equal.
The first new songs from their third album have already been presented by the band on a small exclusive club tour in spring 2016
