A satirical treat is this perennial favorite, which has already been seen over 650. times in the Stalburg Theater. For all who appreciate the noble palate tickle as well as hearty wicked humor, this humorous cooking lesson is an absolute must!

For even after more than 650 performances, the piece still remains the perennial favorite in the repertoire of the theater in the north end: "Who cooks, does not shoot" by Michael Herl, cult author and once co-host of the Late Lounge on HR television, learned journalist and once on behalf of a renowned publisher restaurant critic in California. Herl now sent the hapless molecular biologist Dr. Theodor Kögel (played by Ilja Kamphues) out into the world. Dr. Kögel, the son of an innkeeper from the Sauerland region and a gifted hobby cook, is in the midst of a deep life crisis. No job, no wife, no parental home - and now the employment office has sent him to the Schnell & Lecker company to introduce himself. Of all things Schnell & Lecker, a manufacturer of fast food and convenience products!

Kögel has no choice, he has to go there. His task: He is to demonstrate to a "selected test audience" how tedious and unhealthy conventional cooking is - and how convenient, nutritious and time-saving it all is with the products of Schnell & Lecker. Kögel holds his own at first - but soon his demonstration gets out of hand and unintentionally turns into an absurd-realistic lecture about the abstrusities of modern food intake, about Italian gastronomes and their pepper mills, about pressed chickens in America and formation-flying pineapple in Wanne-Eickel - and not only that. While he conjures up a deliciously stuffed chicken leg with homemade fettuccine before the eyes of the astonished audience, while pleasant scents waft through the theater hall, Dr. Kögel slips and slips and slips.

"Who cooks, does not shoot" - a must for gourmets and for gourmands, for hobby cooks and for professional cooks, for delicatessen dealers and for delicatessen buyers, for butchers and for vegetarians - and for all with sense for good food and bad humor. A merciless reckoning with everything that has to do with fast food, convenience products and cooking without time and leisure - at the same time a sensitive-sarcastic description of the madness around cooking, eating, drinking, thinking, acting and being in modern times. Dr. Kögel's conclusion: you can also overdo it - in both directions. Or, to put it more philosophically:

Where do we come from, where are we going - and which wine goes best with it?
