Carl Maria von Weber Overture to "Oberon" Carl Maria von Weber had international success with his "Freischütz". However, his "Euryanthe" and "Oberon" did not enter the repertoire of opera houses as quickly. The overture to "Oberon," on the other hand, quickly became the favorite of concert audiences. It tells much of the plot that follows. On its own, it is a virtuoso orchestral work that has made its brilliant way even without an operatic stage. Max Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 26 This work, with the most beautiful Adagio in violin literature, is immortal. It displays an easy inventiveness and sense of folk effect. Deep inwardness ennobles the 2nd movement. Fodder for virtuosos abounds in the 3rd movement and thus determines the success of this concert. Ervis Gega - violin Johannes Brahms Symphony No. 3 in F major op. 90 At the zenith of his creative career, his fame as a composer unassailable, he decided to compose another symphony. A proud theme with rough edges dominates the 1st movement. Lovely is the character of the secondary theme. The 2nd movement shows a simple touching basic theme. Deviating from the habit of most composers to regard the 3rd movement as a contrast to the 2nd, Brahms lets it end on a melancholy note. From a world of his own with pain, Brahms lets the 4th movement fade away tenderly. Text source and further information about this event: http://www.wiesbaden.de/microsite/kurhaus/index.php
