Two carnival parades take place in Wiesbaden every year. One is the children's parade through the city center on Shrove Saturday and the other is the traditional Shrove Sunday parade. The parade used to be held on Shrove Monday, but this was changed after a few years, as the city did not want to compete with the neighboring city of Mainz and to give its citizens the opportunity to attend two different parades. For some years now, a parade has been held on Rose Monday in the Wiesbaden suburb of Frauenstein, which has already established itself.
