The second Wild Sunday of the Department of the Environment Rosemarie Heilig leads to the grounds of the Senckenberg Institute. Institute director Andreas Mulch and museum director Brigitte Franzen invite to a discussion about contemporary garden design and present the blooming insect paradise at the Senckenberg site.

Gravel gardens are finally out. Long live the front yard! A particularly beautiful and species-rich outdoor garden can recently be admired on the grounds of the Senckenberg Research Institute and Nature Museum. Head of the Department of the Environment Heilig would like many people in Frankfurt to be inspired by this example and is therefore organising her second Wild Sunday together with the Director of the Institute, Andreas Mulch, and the new Director of the Museum, Brigitte Franzen. Around 50 guests will be able to discuss and take part in guided tours with renowned landscape architects as part of the summer series on Sunday, July 25, at 3 p.m.

What role do the open spaces of buildings play for biodiversity, the urban climate and the quality of stay? What traditions can Frankfurt build on in this respect and how can this garden culture be translated into the 21st century? Exciting questions for the panel with environmental department head Heilig (moderator), Marc Pouzol and Veronique Faucheur from Atelier le Balto (Berlin/Le Havre), the planner of the green spaces, landscape architect Klaus Eicke from the planning company Natur & Umwelt PGNU (Frankfurt am Main), and Andreas Mulch and Brigitte Franzen from the Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung.

Afterwards, guests can explore the front garden created so far in smaller groups and take a look at the future "green situation" around the Senckenberg Research Institute. Those who like to garden themselves will also get tips on which plants are particularly insect-friendly and cope well with longer dry periods.

IMPORTANT: Registration is required for participation at http://www.senckenberg.de/wilder-sonntag/. Participants are asked to already provide their contact details in the process. With the registration confirmation, all participants will receive more information about the meeting place and the Corona hygiene rules.
