It was a great moment for Frankfurt: ten years ago, the Botanical Garden came into the care of the city. Before that, 20 years ago, the association Freundeskreis Botanischer Garten Frankfurt am Main had already been founded to preserve the natural paradise between Palmengarten and Grüneburgpark. This double anniversary would like to celebrate climate and environment head Rosemarie Heilig to the start of its summer series of this year "the wild Sunday". For Sunday, July 24, she has invited the band "Eva's Apfel" to the Botanical Garden. 120 guests can spend there a cheerful Sunday afternoon with a program of jazz and pop. The "Circle of Friends" organizes a small sale with drinks and cake.
"The Wild Sunday" begins at 3 pm on the stage by the pond. First, City Councilwoman Heilig and Thomas Moos, the director of the Botanical Garden, will welcome guests and report on the development of the garden. Ten years ago, Heilig had her first press appointment as head of the environment department right here. July 13, 2012 was her first day of work in the Frankfurt magistrate.
Registration is required by email to info@botanischergarten-frankfurt.de. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The Botanical Garden is exceptionally open until 6 p.m. for registered persons on this Sunday. Access is only possible through the main entrance of the Botanical Garden at Siesmayerstraße 72. The passage to the Grüneburgpark remains closed.
