Distinctive voices, cool pop music, good guys: The Wise Guys are Germany's number 1 vocal pop band and are among the most successful live acts in the German-speaking world. Their songs are as unmistakable as the Wise Guys sound, which consists of five voices but sounds like that of a fully produced pop band. With their two last four studio CDs "Zwei Welten" (2012), "Klassenfahrt" (2010), "Frei!" (2008) and "Radio" (2006), they each stormed the Top 3 (!) of the charts from a standing start; they reached two second and two third places in the Top 100 and stayed in the bestseller list for months. The band can boast a total of five top ten albums. The Wise Guys have now been awarded gold records for five CDs, each selling over 100,000 copies. The latest album "Zwei Welten" achieved gold status just six months after its release - another record for the band.

The Cologne band describe their music as "Vocal-Pop", as "self-made pop music without instruments". The contents of their German lyrics range from hilarious to profoundly funny to touching and melancholic. Especially the more serious side, which plays a subordinate or even no role in other a cappella groups, is enormously important to the Wise Guys, especially on their albums. Their compositions have, despite all the musical diversity, an unmistakable harmonic-melodic style and sound of their own.

Almost everyone has heard of the Cologne-based a cappella formation. But they haven't really been noticed by much of the media - despite months of Top 10 chart placements for some of their twelve albums and hundreds of thousands of completely enthusiastic concertgoers (in 2012 alone, 206,000 spectators experienced the band live in concert!). In other words: The Wise Guys are probably Germany's most popular insider tip.

N After almost fourteen successful years in the same line-up, Clemens Tewinkel left the Wise Guys at his own request at the end of 2008 to pursue a civil profession. Over 335 singers applied to succeed him. Nils Olfert from Kiel got the nod after intensive auditioning and joined the Wise Guys as tenor in January 2009. Ferenc Husta left at the end of 2012, and Andrea Figallo succeeded him until April 2016. With his departure, the band announced that they would disband in the summer of 2017 after 25 years. By that time, the Wise Guys had found a great successor for Andrea Figallo in Björn Sterzenbach. The Wise Guys' farewell tour begins on Sept. 8, 2016 in Nuremberg and ends in the summer of 2017, with the band performing their most popular songs on stages in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
