The "Feurige Elias" - the name is an old colloquial term for steam locomotives - in Darmstadt is almost unique in Europe as a steam tram. The vehicle from the year 1919 brings it with 160 HP to a proud top speed of 35 kilometers per hour. Already in 1886 there was a small tram network in Darmstadt. At that time, the steam locomotive ran with four to five passenger cars from the residential city to the military training area in Griesheim and to the popular excursion destination in Eberstadt, until it disappeared from the cityscape in 1922. On Sundays and holidays to the Bergstrasse .The "Feurige Elias" runs between Darmstadt-Eberstadt and Alsbach an der Bergstraße, a starting point for idyllic hikes. Four trips in each direction will be made on the days of the event. The journey time is approximately 30 minutes each time. From Darmstadt-Eberstadt, stop "Frankenstein", the "Feurige Elias" departs at 11.10 am, 1.10 pm, 3.10 pm and 5.10 pm. From Alsbach, stop "Am Hinkelstein", it leaves at 11.45, 13.45, 15.45 and 17.45.
