A few days ago Sharon den Adel, the singer and songwriter of Within Temptation came forward and explained that there have been some changes in her life. After "Hydra", the band's latest album from the beginning of 2014, and the last tour, the usual routine didn't take place - i.e. writing new songs, recording a new record, planning a new tour. Instead, she said, she needed some time off. So she spent two years with her family, during which time she conceived her solo career under the name "My Indigo".
In early November, she released her first single of the same name, which sounds so different from her ancestral band.
But, and this is the good news for all fans of the Dutch band's epic, symphonic, wide-walled, heavy-metal sound: this work has also made den Adel want to write new songs for Within Temptation again. She's hungry to produce a new record - the release of which has now been announced for 2018 - and to tour with her band again.
So the old inspiration is back, the first demos have been recorded, and work in the studio is underway.
