The Metal Battle brings the metal scenes of this world together at the Wacken Open Airs.
In more than a decade the competition has supported and accompanied several bands in starting their career. In the past bands like Drone, Torture Squad, Battle Beast and Hammercult started their successful career at the Metal Battle.
Traditionally the Metal Battle finale takes place on the WET Stage and on the Headbanger's Stage of the W:O:As. Here the bands have the chance to heat up the audience of the biggest metal festival and show them what metal means in their home country.
At the end of the event a "Top 5" will be determined. These bands will then be rewarded with material and cash prizes.
In addition, the Metal Battle will provide each participating band at W:O:A with a forum consisting of producers, bookers, managers and labels. This is intended to be a springboard; each band will have the opportunity to make contacts on site that will be useful for their musical future.
