Bands can also be created like this. Singer and pianist Christian Friedel got the musicians of Polarkreis 18 to support him for his tour in 2011 and founded Woods of Birnam with them afterwards. Already for the band name the Dresdeners were inspired by Shakespeare's "Macbeth", even more Friedel played in a new production of "Hamlet" - with Woods of Birnam as a live band at the Staatschauspiel Dresden, documented on an EP in 2013. Four years later, they remained committed to the British national hero on the album "Searching For William", on which they combine "great emotions, high art and ambitious indie pop" and have "clothed texts by William Shakespeare in dramatic pop songs", as the German Rolling Stone found. WoB are now presenting their third album, released in October, on their "Grace Tour 2019". "On their new album, the Woods expand their atmospheric pop with electronic elements, krautrock and the courage to be opulent."
