In spring 2018, the German wrestling league "Westside Xtreme Wrestling" set superlatives. For three days in a row, over 1,000 spectators attended 16 Carat Gold in Oberhausen - the Turbinenhalle was completely sold out long in advance for Europe's biggest wrestling festival. The Batschkapp in Frankfurt, the Markthalle in Hamburg, the Eventwerk in Dresden, The Dome in London - numerous popular and established halls sometimes ran out of tickets weeks before the event. Pro wrestling is back and alive.
At the forefront of development in Germany is wXw. Now with seven full-time employees, an office and its own wrestling school behind it, wXw launched "the German wrestling Netflix" in 2016. On wXwNOW, the in-house streaming service, over 1,050 hours of wXw material are available in German and English. All major events are released within 72 hours in multiple languages and every Wednesday there is a weekly show called wXw Shotgun featuring wrestling matches and the exciting stories surrounding them.
This show is the focus of the latest tour. The wXw Shotgun live tour will make over 24 stops across Germany between mid-July and Christmas Eve, from Cologne to Leipzig and from Hamburg to Ludwigshafen. Around 30 internationally experienced professional wrestlers will be taking part. In addition to the top European stars, a total of eight male and female wrestlers from the USA will also be part of the wXw Shotgun Livetour for 6-10 weeks at a time.
Thereby, wXw is considered an outstanding talent factory. Wrestlers like Cesaro, Sami Zayn, Alexander Wolfe, Aleister Black, Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose and many others are former champions of wXw. The trade magazine "Power Wrestling" judges not for nothing: "wXw is the benchmark for wrestling in Germany - and at the same time one of the most professionally raised Indy promotions in the world. It's worth becoming a fan here."
Besides the action in the ring, which includes exciting fights as well as grippingly told stories, wXw has always distinguished itself by its direct proximity to the spectators in attendance. In contrast to common practice, there is no barrier to the ring, so that the fans can take part in the action up close. In addition, the wrestlers are available after the show for conversations, autographs and photos.
