11th African Culture Festival

11th African Culture Festival

Category: More

From 18.06.16 to 19.06.16 the 11th African Culture Festival will take place in the Rebstockpark in Frankfurt. Offered is again an extensive music program on several stages with live music, panel discussions, children's program. Numerous culinary stands will provide for the physical well-being.

The association "Afrika Kulturprojekte e.V." emerged from the "Senegalese Association in the State of Hesse e.V.". The change of name reflects the fact that our activities have expanded significantly in recent years - and that more and more people from all over are participating in the life of the association. Consequently, we no longer see ourselves solely as ambassadors of Senegalese culture and community, but as a mouthpiece for the entire African diaspora: with our work, we would therefore like to do justice to a broadly conceived pan-African idea. Therefore, the association functions as a platform for cultural exchange, political debate and cooperation between the Black Diaspora and the African continent. Another central task is to promote social contacts between the German population and people of African origin living in Germany. We see ourselves as a representative of the interests of all people who want to stand up for tolerance on a local and international level and who want to actively engage against all forms of discrimination such as neo-colonialism or everyday racism and right-wing violence.

The aim of the association is to carry out various projects that are intended to arouse lasting interest in political discourse and the presentation of African culture. Readings, festivals, music events, film screenings, plays and congresses deal with the reappraisal of African history and promote the dissemination of African cultural production. People of all nationalities who are interested in African culture, want to do something on a socio-political level against structural or institutionalized racism and want to get involved as an active/passive member are always welcome!

Live music, discussions, children's program and African food and handicrafts,
