Honest, expressive, earthy, powerful and concentrated, seductive and muscular, with a fully structured body and a strong finish - attributes that apply not only to excellent wines, but also to excellent rock music and its protagonists! Rock 'n' roll has meanwhile matured like good wine, and rock stars and their fans are usually not really averse to a noble drop either (even Motörhead veteran Lemmy Kilmister switched from hard whiskey to a light rosé - not least on the advice of his personal doctor).
For Michael Spreckelmeyer, a Düsseldorf wine trader and passionate rock fan, it was therefore obvious to combine his two passions. In autumn 2011, he started to distribute high-quality wines under the label of famous rock bands with the company METAL & WINE. And this with steadily growing success! The enjoyable portfolio ranges from Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, KISS or The Police to AC/DC, Motörhead and Slayer. The consistently high-quality wines (among others from 100% ecological-sustainable production) at METAL &. WINE bear such illustrious names as "Back In Black"-Shiraz (AC/DC), "Forty Licks"-Merlot (Rolling Stones), "ZinFire"-Zinfandel (KISS) or "Reign In Blood"-Cabernet Sauvignon (Slayer).
Partly the cuvees are inspired by the bands' music, partly the musicians themselves have a winery or participated in the wine creations. In the case of AC/DC, Grateful Dead or Slayer, the wine comes from their home regions. Spreckelmeyer's goal is to have a close relationship between the artists and their wines and above all that the musicians are strongly involved in the cultivation and development of the wines as vintners or "co-vintners". Sting's cuvée "Sister Moon" comes from his own Tuscan winery Il Palagio and even received an amazing 92 out of 100 points from "Wine Pope" Robert Parker!
Every rock fan who also wants to do something really good for the palate will find in the wines of METAL & WINE guaranteed the right accompaniment to his favorite music - who prefers it more traditional, of course, the Motörhead-Vödka (on the Röcks) or the AC/DC and KISS beer warmly recommended, but well chilled!
