TIME FOR BREAD is your number 1

TIME FOR BREAD is your number 1

Category: More

Once again this year was looking for the best bread in Frankfurt and the surrounding area. On our homepage and via our Facebook page, users were asked to tell us where to find the most delicious bread in the city. And your choice was clear: ZEIT FÜR BROT in Oeder Weg, still in second place in 2015, has climbed the winner's podium in 2016. When the winner's certificate was handed over, we were able to see for ourselves what makes this bakery so popular with its customers.

In times when more and more traditional bakeries have to close and there are more and more branches of large chains, there are hardly any bakeries left where people actually still bake their own bread. Often frozen dough blanks are delivered by wholesalers, which are then simply baked. Although this is cheaper, it is clearly at the expense of taste. Unfortunately, more and more people are making this compromise, which is why more and more traditional bakeries are disappearing every year. There are just 14,000 businesses left in the whole of Germany. For comparison: in the 1950s there were still over 55,000! The fact that quality not only has its price, but also requires time, actually becomes a minor matter.

Not so with ZEIT FÜR BROT. Here, the eponymous time plays a major role. This should not only apply to the production of the products, but also to their consumption. Quality is offered here and of course it should be enjoyed - either at one of the local places or in the company of loved ones at home. So that the customer can also see where his bread comes from, there is the bakery which can be seen by all. And should a question arise while looking over the bakers' shoulders at work, the friendly staff are always ready to provide information.

To guarantee the quality of the breads, rolls and sweet baked goods, only products made from the best organic ingredients are used. Sustainability plays a big role here anyway: in addition to ingredients from ecologically sustainable agriculture, great importance is also attached to the fact that the suppliers come from the region. And what is not sold at the end of the day does not end up in the trash, but is donated to those in need.

If you like it strong, you should definitely go for the grain crust (20% rye, 80% wheat). If you like your bread a little juicier, there's only one choice here: the delicious whole grain juice crust. The rye and spelt grains, which are freshly ground here, are soaked in water beforehand. This makes the bread particularly juicy and also keeps it longer. A delicious win-win situation. But also the Bergsteiger (30% rye, 70% wheat) or the grain baguette are real recommendations. When it comes to rolls, you should definitely try the sourdough roll. And a cheese thing or an olive spelt bar are perfect snacks for in between.

A big seller at ZEIT FÜR BROT are the almost legendary snails, which are available classically as cinnamon snails, but also in other flavor variations (for example, apple-cinnamon or cherry-marzipan). The snails are so popular that it can sometimes take a while until the sold-out varieties are baked again. But you should have time for that, too, if you choose TIME FOR BREAD.

ZEIT FÜR BROT can be found at Oeder Weg 15 (near subway station Eschersheimer Tor), 60318 Frankfurt am Main
