Zum ersten "Frischen Süßen" auf den "Obsthof am Steinberg"

Category: More

On 22 August 2015, the time has come again: Andreas Schneider and his team invite you to the first "Frischen Süßen" at the "Obsthof am Steinberg". Even though the delicious organic speciality seems to be available in large quantities on this day, Andreas Schneider is plagued by worries. Due to the capricious weather this year, he expects a significantly smaller harvest than last year. After other growing areas had already suffered harvest failures in 2014, Nieder-Erlenbach is also affected this year: Sunburn and fruit drop - caused by continuous heat and storms - ensure that only about one third of the fruits can be harvested. The fruit size is also about 20 percent smaller. However, swill drinkers can expect a full-bodied vintage with higher sugar and thus alcohol contents.

Apple festival with Pomologenverein and VDP winery Künstler/Hochheim

Saturday, October 3, 2015, all cider connoisseurs should already make a note of. Together with the Pomologenverein, regional group Hessen organizes the fruit farm team a varied program with large fruit variety show with over 100 apple and pear varieties. The opening takes place at 11 o'clock in the tent at the Schoppenwirtschaft with Werner Nussbaum/Pomologenverein as well as the reigning cider queens. At 13 o'clock follows a free tree sponsor walk with Andreas Schneider and 2 varietal ciders. Afterwards, the "Hessian local variety 2016", the "Weilburger" will be planted. The variety identification by the Hessian Pomologist Association will take place Saturday 3 and Sunday 5 October. Who would like to use the offer, the following must consider: There should be 4-5 typical and ripe fruits per variety packed in a bag.

The renowned VDP winery Künstler/Hochheim in the Rheingau will travel to the apple festival and invites you to taste its top wines for free. Thus, Schneider and Künstler are building a bridge between viticulture and fruit growing. The organic wine tavern rounds off the culinary offer with green sauce, cheese plate and bratwurst and contributes to the refreshment.

Apple raclette as a Christmas party, the corporate and family event

Already, the inclined cheese and apple lover should have the coming winter in mind for scheduling. Apple raclette dates at the orchard book up quickly. For a good reason: From November to March, a laid table with raclette utensils, glasses, plates, cutlery and napkins awaits participants in the comfortably heated Schoppenwirtschaft. The following organic ingredients are included in the price of € 19.50 p.p. (Early bird until 31.10.: € 17,50 p.p.) included: Raclette cheese, jacket potatoes, bread, corn, silver onions, pickles, chopped onions and apples for stewing. Even more indulgent is the torchlight hike with apple raclette. After a mulled apple welcome, the evening hike begins around the campfire. After lighting the fire torches, Andreas Schneider takes you on a walk through the apple grove with two fruity single-vineyard wines. He explains his cider and organic philosophy directly under the apple tree (also in English on request). Afterwards, the Pfännchen-Raclette awaits the participants in the Schoppenwirtschaft (€ 39 p.p. Early bird price until 31.10.: € 37 p.p.), incl. non-alcoholic accompaniment with apple juice, apple pear juice and apple quince juice.
