A delicious plate of hearty lentil soup is of course something particularly fine, especially in the cold season. And in the Frankfurt version, the world-famous frankfurters give the soup a very special additional flavor note. To make this soup you will need:
Ingredients
- 400 g lentils
- 1.5 L clear meat broth
- 4 pairs of frankfurters
- 200 g carrots
- 200g streaky bacon (diced)
- 2 onions
- 250g leeks
- 100g celery
- Salt
- Pepper
- 2 tbsp vinegar
Preparation:
First, bring the meat stock to a boil. Meanwhile, you need to wash the lentils well and chop the leeks, carrots and celery. All together you give then in the broth and let the whole thing boil briefly. Turn the heat down to low and let the soup simmer for about 50 - 60 minutes. Meanwhile, fry the bacon in a pan and then add the onions, cut into small cubes, and fry them briefly in the pan until they are brown. Then add the onions and bacon to the soup and season to taste with the vinegar, pepper and salt. Now let the frankfurters steep in the soup for about ten minutes (do not boil!!). And ready is this delicious frankfurter lentil soup!
