Fantasy Filmfest 2014

From 28.08. - 08.09.2014 at CineStar Metropolis

For many years, the Fantasy Filmfest has enjoyed ever-increasing popularity throughout Germany. No wonder, since top-class productions from the horror and fantasy genres are often presented here, which officially only see the light of the German cinema halls much later or even never. The best examples from recent years were the sci-fi thriller District 9, the outstanding thriller The Machinist, the zombie comedy Fido, the satirical horror Trick r Treat, the gripping home invasion thriller You`re Next or the cult film Donnie Darko. Also at the 28th Fantasy Filmfest the organizers have put together a very respectable and interesting program, which can be admired in Frankfurt again in the Cinestar Metropolis.

So run from 28 August to 08. September, US productions such as Oculus, All Cheerleaders die, Nurse 3D or the premiere of the new Pierce Brosnan thriller The November Man, but also many other interesting productions from around the world.

One of the really big highlights comes from Australia. The opening film The Rover, which will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in Germany on 31.10., features a prominent cast with Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson and promises gripping entertainment. The film celebrated its acclaimed world premiere in Cannes and is now guaranteed to thrill FFF audiences.

Another highlight is the New Zealand-American co-production What we do in the Shadows, which will hit theaters this fall under the title 5 Room Kitchen Coffin. The slightly different vampire movie from Flight of the Conchords star Jemaine Clement has all the makings of a true cult film.

From the UK comes Under the Skin starring Scarlett Johansson, France sends Wrong Cops, the new film from cult director Quentin Dupieux, from Spain comes Open Windows starring Elija Wood and former porn starlet Sasha Grey and also from India comes the zombie comedy Go Goa Gone, a worthy genre entry for the popular festival. But also the closing film Life after Beth or the trashy Wolfcop are other highlights of this year's festival.

This is, however, only a small selection of the films Fantasy Filmfest has in store in its 28th festival year.
