What do the LICHTER Film Festival and the Markt im Hof in Sachsenhausen's Brückenviertel have in common? Both are projects born out of passion, which have advanced to cult status within a very short time and which have noticeably enriched Frankfurt's cultural and scene landscape. So it makes sense to join forces for a particularly tasty project! Together with the essenkochenfilme project, they applied for the "Ab in die Mitte" inner-city offensive launched by the state of Hesse, the aim of which is to revitalise inner-city centres, and were promptly chosen as the state winner from among all the applicants. With the financial support of Ab in die Mitte, the cinematic and culinary journey around the world can now get underway for the first and hopefully not last time.

From 15 to 24 September, films with culinary themes will be shown in the Markthalle. On the programme are films from Germany (Soul Kitchen), the USA (Kiss the Cook, Jiro dreams of Sushi), Denmark (Babette's Feast), Taiwan (Eat Drink Woman) and France (Couscous with Fish). In addition, there will be a children's programme at 12 noon and 2 p.m. on the weekend with the films Ratatouille on the market Saturday and Ab durch die Hecke on the open-for-sale district Sunday. A special place in the colorful program certainly takes the absolutely worth seeing documentary 10 billion - How will we all be full, which does not really make you want to eat, but after which it can still be discussed animatedly at the market about food waste or alternative production and distribution methods.

Before, during and after the film, a night market will take place in the courtyard. Here, special dishes are offered, which, if possible, should match the film being shown at the time. The visit should not only be worthwhile because of the film, so that even those guests who may not catch one of the nearly 120 seats do not have to go home disappointed. The Spätmarkt offers plenty of seating and lots of umbrellas - just in case it does rain. Whether you want to sip homemade soda, try one of Braustil's beer creations, experience Grandma Gerta's new take on traditional cuisine, or enjoy delicious Italian sandwiches from the recently opened Fame on Wallstraße, the market in the courtyard offers pure enjoyment in a really nice setting, not just during the little festival, but every Saturday from 10am - 5pm.
