Content: After the devastating explosion during the big New Year's Eve celebration, there is not only extreme damage to the Grand Hotel to mourn. The attack has also left quite a few people injured and a few dead. While Julio (Yon González) is briefly struck down by an injury, his lover Alicia Alarcón (Amaia Salamanca) disappears from the hotel without a trace. Her husband Don Diego (Pedro Alonso) suspects that she has been kidnapped. Although Don Diego, with unexpected help from Julio and Inspector Ayala (Pep Anton Muñoz), manages to free Alicia from the hands of her tormentors. But that is far from the end of the nightmare. With the help of her friend, the lawyer Maite (Megan Montaner), Alicia wants to get her marriage to Don Diego annulled. But Diego wants to prevent that at all costs. When Alicia tries to elope with Julio, the cuckolded Don Diego resorts to drastic means to stop the lovers. Meanwhile, Andrés (Llorenc González) must learn that his lover Camila (Andrea Trepit) was pregnant and lost the baby at birth. Now she's fighting for her life herself and gets help from Belen, of all people - but she has a murderous plan...

Meanwhile, head of the family Doña Teresa (Adriana Ozores) has other worries. After losing the hotel to Don Diego, she sees her entire existence in ruins. The only way out could be the marriage of her son Javier to a wealthy bride. But good-for-nothing Javier falls in love with nurse Laura (Marta Hazes), of all people. In addition, Don Diego wants to sell the hotel to the wealthy Beatriz (Cristina Brando). Is this the end of the Grand Hotel?

The fourth season of Grand Hotel is also marked by intrigue, secret love, murder and power struggles. And, of course, there's plenty for Commissioner Ayala and his inept colleague to do once again. While some of the new storylines work quite well and fans of the first three seasons will be very entertained, the series is now going a bit in circles at other moments. Especially the secret romance between Julio and Alicia slowly takes on unintentionally comical features. Also the fact that again and again some documents appear or have to be found to convict Don Diego or Doña Teresa of a crime - which does not succeed in the end - is after four seasons a very overused plot element.

But whenever the series does not take itself too seriously, such as the plot line around Javier's relationship with Laura, or when the familiar pattern is varied a little, the series works very well even in the penultimate season. The beautiful pictures, the scenery of the hotel, which is very impressive even after the explosion, the costumes and of course the numerous soap elements, which give the series its high addiction factor, make season 4 a real must for all fans. And since the season of course ends with a cliffhanger again, the final episodes actually can't come fast enough. Worth watching!

Picture + Sound: In terms of picture and sound quality, everything remains the same. The image of the DVD convinces in most scenes with a pleasantly high image sharpness and a powerful, very pleasant color scheme. Especially in darker scenes, some small details are a little washed out, but overall, the overall impression is quite positive for a TV production. The sound, which is available as a stereo mix, continues to focus primarily on dialogue and music, but every now and then small sound effects and ambient noises add some dynamics to the soundstage. Good!

Extras: As a bonus, the DVD has only a few program tips to offer.

Conclusion:In the fourth season of Grand Hotel, there is once again plenty of new intrigue, new loves, new murders, and plenty of new mysteries. While Julio and Alicia's relationship goes too much in circles and thus starts to take on unintentionally comical traits, some of the new storylines definitely manage to keep the entertainment value of the series at the usual level. The DVD box set presents the episodes of this fourth and penultimate season in appealing picture and sound quality. Only on extras fans hope again in vain with this box. All in all: If you already liked the first seasons, you won't regret buying this fourth season. Recommendable
