This year's tribute is dedicated to Oscar winner Giuseppe Tornatore, who will present his cinematic declaration of love at the festival opening on Saturday, 29. November, his cinematic declaration of love to cinema, NUOVO CINEMA PARADISO (IT/FR 1988), will be presented personally in the cinema of the Deutsches Filmmuseum. On Sunday, November 30, director Edoardo Winspeare will be a guest with his film IN GRAZIA DI DIO (A New Life, IT 2014), set in Puglia and shot mainly with amateur actors. Ottavia Nicolini, the Frankfurt-based daughter of architect Renato Nicolini, will be present for the screening of SACRO GRA (Italy 2013, Dir: Gianfranco Rosi). Her father was instrumental in the preliminary work for SACRO GRA, which is documented in the supporting film that evening, TANTI FUTURI POSSIBILE (IT 2012. R: Gianfranco Rosi).

The news of an old friend's death triggers a flood of magical memories for a famous director of his childhood and youth in post-war Sicily. As a young boy, his friendship with Alfredo, the old projectionist at the titular village cinema, develops his passion for film, a passion that will shape him for life.

Giuseppe Tornatore's nostalgic and semi-autobiographical declaration of love for the cinema won him the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1990 and numerous other awards.

Giuseppe Tornatore's thriller has won numerous awards at international festivals and was awarded the European Film Prize for "Best Film" in 2007.

With a Palestinian friend who dresses up as a bride and ten Italian and Syrian friends, they cross half of Europe in four days disguised as a wedding party, covering a distance of 3,000 kilometres - a journey full of emotions and hopes that ended on 18. November 2013 in Stockholm.

As he grows up, he discovers his love of music: he becomes the gifted and celebrated pianist of the ship's band and befriends the trumpeter Max. He never leaves the ship that has become his home.

The two directors Alessandro Cassigoli and Tania Masi are also homesick. To combat their nascent melancholy, they accompany their fellow countrymen and women in their everyday lives, which are as familiar as they are at times strange, with their cameras.

But Morelli is a fraud, luring the

gullible villagers in front of an empty camera. It is only through his encounter with the beautiful Beata that he begins to rethink his unscrupulous actions, but the police are already on to him.
