A few decades ago, the sound of grinding machines being manufactured filled the factory halls of the Naxos-Union company in Ostend near Frankfurt Zoo. Today, you are more likely to hear hearty laughter and thunderous applause on the premises. For the old hall, which has been a listed building since 1992, has been home to the independent theatre Willy Praml (since 2000), as well as the "Kabarett Änderungsschneiderei", in short: Die KÄS (since 2002). In addition, it also offers space for the naxosKINO once a week between March and December. As if that were not enough, the Naxoshalle also provides space for the Bornheim Youth Shop's "Offenes Atelier" gallery. And parts of events such as the LUMINALE or the Japanese film festival NIPPON CONNECTION are also held in the hall, which was built in 1906/07.
While some vacant side halls have since been demolished to make way for modern new buildings, the old main hall has remained a fixed and important part of Frankfurt's art and cultural scene as a cultural centre - and will hopefully remain so for a long time to come.
What do you find on the Naxos site?
The KÄS
In 1997, Şinasi Dikmen and his wife Ayşe Aktay founded Germany's first German-Turkish cabaret with the KÄS. Over the years, the KÄS has developed into one of the most important and popular cabaret stages in the city. Top-class artists such as Josef Hader, Gerhard Polt, Dieter Hilderbrandt, Urban Priol and Emil Steinberger have already been guests here. But the KÄS also offers a stage to the new generation. Up-and-coming comedians such as Luke Mockridge, Chris Tall and Enissa Amani, who now fill large halls, have presented their first programmes here. Whether cult cabaret artist or comedy newcomer - in the KÄS they all have a pleasant, cozy home.

Whether it's "Everyman" by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, "Don Carlos" by Schiller or "The Marquise of O." by Heinrich von Kleist, Theater Willy Praml offers challenging plays in sometimes surprisingly innovative productions every season.
