Artful overnight stay: tinyBE brings inhabitable sculptures to Frankfurt

A very special art project is coming to Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Darmstadt in June: from June 26 to September 26, 2021, nine temporary inhabitable sculptures by international artists* will be on display for the first time in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main metropolitan region by day and night. In Frankfurt, a sculpture garden is currently being created in Metzlerpark, where six "livable sculptures" will be erected. The sculptures, which are made of sustainable raw materials, are intended to address, among other things, the relationship between humans and nature or the question of how we would like to live in the future.

The works, which have been specially adapted and structurally implemented for the respective locations, have been created by renowned international artists* and will be presented to the public for the first time in summer 2021. The construction work has started on May 17 in the Metzlerpark in Frankfurt am Main, the online booking of all habitable sculptures will start in early June 2021.

The Sculpture Garden in Metzlerpark

.Christian Jankowski's inhabitable artwork, titled "Your Date with the Monument," allows visitors to have a kind of date with the famous Bauhaus architect Mies van der Rohe while enjoying nighttime views of Frankfurt's starry sky. With his habitable biotope, Terence Koh creates a high-altitude retreat in the middle of the pulsating city with spectacular panoramic views of Frankfurt's skyline. Inspired by a space capsule, the collective MY-CO-X, consisting of artists, architects and scientists, is developing a plant-based place made of fungal biotechnologies, appropriately named "Sleeping in a Mushroom". With her work BOOB HILLS BURROWS, the renowned multimedia artist Laure Prouvost makes it possible to experience an inner snapshot of the human body. "Silent Night, Healing Night," the work of artist duo Mia Eve Rollow & Caleb Duarte, raises questions about access and participation. Is reduction a path to beauty? This question can also be pondered in Thomas Schütte's walk-in wooden sculpture, in order to find out what one actually needs.

The communal center of the temporary sculpture park in Metzlerpark is a stove sculpture with a bench by Sterling Ruby. Ideally suited for discussions around a crackling fire under the open sky - and right in the middle of the city. Unforgettable nights are guaranteed. As a tinyBE extra, Charlotte Posenenske posthumously presents her "Revolving Surfaces" as a room divider in Frankfurt. The four rotating panels can be closed to form a wall, but can also be opened and crossed.
