Happy New Year. Welcome to the new 20's. I hope you all slid in well!

How do you start a new year? If you're anything like me, the first thing I always like to do is knock down pegs: Vacation dates, free time. The essentials ;-)

To give structure to the unknown that lies ahead. And to motivate myself for the daily routine.

Where are the small and big freedoms, the everyday joys? The fun?

Although resolutions aren't really my thing (there are still a few lying around untouched from three years ago, who else?), the hamster wheel doesn't have to start up again right away.

Where does life happen in Frankfurt?

Less routine, more life, as the American teacher and reformer Amos Bronson Alcott so aptly and wisely put it two hundred years ago. So where does life happen at the beginning of the year in Frankfurt?

I took a look around for you. Here are my top THREE

CLOTHING DETOX: TAUSCHEN STATT SHOPPEN

· If you've resolved less is more for 2020 and prefer to swap instead of shop, mark the following date right now: 1. February.

Then there will be a bag and shoe exchange party in the leather museum in Offenbach. Important: Items in good condition must be handed in between 14 and 18 January from 2 to 5 pm! Why? To get the value voucher for the actual swap then in February.

KINDER'S CINEMA IN HESSENWOCHE

· There's no end to Hesse Week, no skiing planned, but a gang of rascals at home? Well, off to the kiddie movies.
Where. At the Deutsches Filmmuseum, the programme from 6 to 12 January not only includes additional children's films.

No, the film projector will also roll up at the late noon hour. Shaun - the Sheep is in, for kids four and up!

Good entertainment

· Fancy a laugh and some satire? If you don't want to get worked up about the stupidity of others anymore, leave that to satirist Urban Priol. As usual, he is currently touring the country with his review of the year. In Frankfurt he is on 11 January.

· Or how about a visit to the circus again? "Carl Busch" at the ice rink in the east of the city is, after all, right on my walk. The blue and white tent with its imposing arc of light glows especially beautifully in the early evening hours.

While my dog and I were strolling around the Bornheimer Hang like this, loud laughs and upbeat swing music drifted up to us.

The parking lot at Ratsweg was packed.

So if you want to experience the Great Christmas Circus again with brave riders from Kazakhstan, mountain bike artists and much more, you should get a ticket quickly!

Circus Carl Busch, winter program, fairground at Ratsweg. Until January 5. Find all information and tickets right here on Frankfurt-Tipp!
