Content: For the employees of the acting agency ASK (Agence Samuel Kerr), the time of anxiety seems to be over: after the death of founder Samuel, the end for the renowned agency was threatened, now a solvent investor has been found in Hicham Janowski. However, the joy that the future of the employees is secured for the time being does not last long. As it turns out, Janowski's methods do not exactly correspond to what one might call team spirit. In order to be able to show success, he plays colleagues off against each other and does not shy away from using unfair means. Especially with Andréa he clashes again and again, which has unexpected consequences. But these are not the only (unpleasant) surprises that await the agents under their new backer.

The French hit series Call my Agent takes a wonderfully biting look behind the scenes of the film business. In the turbulent everyday life of an actor's agency, oversized egos, vanities and dark secrets are revealed - and not only by the actors. What's special about the series is that numerous greats of French cinema play themselves here - or rather, exaggerated versions of themselves. Of course, this reminds a bit of the series Extras by Ricky Gervais (if you don't know the comedy about the everyday life of an extra, you should definitely watch the episode with Daniel Harry Potter Radcilffe or the one with Kate Winslet). However, Call my Agent seems to be a bit more grounded in reality.

Furthermore, the series never goes for the really big laughs, but rather captivates with its witty, satirical wit, which is embedded in a plot that definitely has some more serious moments at times. What really makes the series worth watching, however, is the fact that the actual protagonists, as the employees of ASK, are really interesting and strong characters whose stories you simply sympathize with. This prevents the guest appearances of celebrity starts from degenerating into a gimmick meant to carry the series alone.

In Season 2, a great Juliette Binoche, a wonderful Fabrice Luchini (The Jewel), Virginie Efira (Pear Pie with Lavender), who is also enchanting in this somewhat beastly version, and Highlander Christophe Lambert, among others, do the honors. In six rousing, extremely entertaining and sometimes wonderfully ironic episodes, they ensure, together with the great main ensemble, that Call my Agent has once again become a truly outstanding series in its second year, which is addictive after two episodes at the latest. Absolutely worth watching!

Picture + Sound: In terms of picture and sound quality, the DVD conversion of the series is on a good to very good TV level. The colors are coherently mixed, there is no notable blurring or even image dirt to discover and also in the contrast tuning there is no reason to complain. The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is relatively unspectacular, although the dialogue - and that's what matters here - sounds pleasantly powerful from the speakers. Good!

Extras: Unfortunately, there is no bonus material.

Conclusion: Call my Agent is also in the very good second season again a successful mixture of satire and drama, of rousing soap and biting comedy. Not only do a few greats of French cinema once again take themselves for a ride, but the actual protagonists are also consistently developed. Entertaining entertainment on a high level, which is actually only missing some bonus material on the good DVD realization. Nevertheless, applies here altogether: Absolutely recommendable
