So far, Nanette Burstein has made a name for herself as a documentary filmmaker and has even won an Oscar. She won't win that for her feature film debut, the romantic comedy "Crazy for Dir", but with plenty of charm and wicked wit, she has undoubtedly succeeded in creating an entertaining as well as endearing genre entry.

It was supposed to be just a simple one-night stand. But between Erin (Drew Barrymore) and Garrett (Justin Long) it sparks violently, so it does not remain with a short flirt. Too bad Erin has to fly back to San Francisco after six wonderful weeks in New York. But the lovers are certain: they will manage to keep their love alive even over a long distance. But when reality intrudes on their great romance, Garrett and Erin discover that loving someone at a distance is damn hard...

"Crazy for Dir" is a nice comedy that thrives on its cheeky dialogue and likable lead actors. Debut screenwriter Geoff La Tulippe has written an entertaining mix of classic romantic comedy and frivolous big city comedy. Drew Barrymore and Justin Long convincingly manage to convey both aspects to the screen in a believable manner. Even though some scenes are clearly over the top, there are always moments when Erin and Garrett find themselves in situations that any viewer who has ever been in a long-distance relationship themselves can probably relate to.

But it's not just the chemistry between the leads that is spot on. The supporting characters are also very well cast. For instance, the relationship between Erin and her sister, played by Christina Applegate, is one of the film's very strong points. And Garrett's best friends, embodied by Jason Sudekis and "It`s sunny in Philadelphia" star Charlie Day, provide some of the best, albeit raunchiest, laughs.

"Crazy for You" is nice, diverting fun that offers no real surprises, but actually entertains well throughout its running time. The only question that remains is why the FSK would release a film, in which there is very explicit talk of one's own oral stimulation and various types of sex, for ages 6 and up. Because this charming-frivolous work is really not suitable for small children. Therefore: If you are too old for "American Pie" but too young for "Sex and the City", "Crazy for You" is the perfect romantic comedy. Worth Seeing
