You have surely also experienced days like this, when everything is just too much for you and you wish you could split in two to be able to manage everything that comes up in such a day. Couples therapist Luisa (Lina Beckmann) feels this way all the time. She is constantly rushing back and forth between her job, housework, husband (Charly Hübner) and lover (Benno Fürmann) - and at some point it just gets too much for her. And so, of course, she thinks she's lost it under the stress when one morning she sees herself twice. But in fact it is the case that Luisa has split up, Now there is Luisa and Ann (also Lina Beckmann). They look exactly alike, but otherwise they have little in common. While Luisa desperately tries to keep her daily life under control, Ann blithely lives into the day and just does whatever she feels like. Luisa realizes the possibilities that come with her second self - but as the men in her life take more and more of a liking to her split-off personality, Luisa has to bring out the bigger guns.

Feeling Burnt Out and Empty Sometimes? is actually exactly what you want from German cinema: a tongue-in-cheek comedy off the usual Schweiger/Schweighöfer & Co. paths, filled with original ideas and a lightness that too many filmmakers sadly miss in their work. Both dramaturgically and visually, director Lola Randl (The Invention of Love) treads rather unconventional paths here, which don't always lead to the goal, but overall make for an overall impression that is refreshingly different and extremely funny in places.

lead actress Lina Beckmann plays the various incarnations of her character with a delightful exuberance. Especially the somewhat naive, fun-loving and somehow crazy Ann seems to have been a lot of fun for her. The fact that Beckmann is also not too shy for silliness really adds to the film's fun factor. The same can be said about the wonderfully arrogant acting Benno Fürmann and about Charly Hübner, who with their good interplay and coherent timing skillfully shoot many a ball into the humorous target.

Do you sometimes feel burnt out and empty? is a very special film, which is really not oriented to mass taste. And therefore I can understand it well, if someone can't get along with the humor, which takes some getting used to, or if the film seems to be too colorful, too overdone and too weird. But if you like to laugh about playful comedy cinema of the non-conformist kind and if you don't want it to be absolutely spiritual and highly intellectual, you might have a lot of fun with this movie. And that's why I give it a clear: Worth seeing!
