Content: When Victoria (Brigitte Hjort Sørenson), a successful engineer for a leading drone manufacturer, runs into her former fellow student Iyad (Ardalan Esmaili) again at a conference in Frankfurt, she suspects no harm when he asks her for an interview. But when he visits her in her apartment for this purpose, a real horror trip begins for Victoria, because Iyad takes her and her son Oscar hostage. Iyad is part of a terrorist cell that is planning an attack in Scandinavia. And to carry it out, they need Victoria, who must now fight not only for her life, but also with her conscience.

At the same time, a Danish-Swedish anti-terrorist unit is on a desperate search for a missing missile explosive. Swedish policewoman Eva (Tova Magnusson) and Danish PET officer Jesper (Joachim Fjelstrup) are on a desperate hunt for those behind it to prevent a possible attack. In the process, their trail also leads to Victoria.

At about the third episode of Greyzone, you wonder what can happen now - after all, the story is told over ten episodes. And somehow you can already guess the ending. But even if the whole thing is a bit predictable, the creators manage to expand the story with its individual plot threads in such a way that there are always surprises and above all breathless suspense. At some moments, you really clutch your armchair, hoping that Victoria and her son may manage to escape - knowing full well that their ordeal will continue for a few more episodes.

This is especially true of a moment when the series should have ended. But the creators have found a truly perfidious reason to forbid the engineer the security. As a viewer, you really wouldn't have expected that. Sure, the series isn't free of clichés and some subplots seem more like filler. But all in all, here is a really gripping thriller series, which can convince with an outstanding Brigitte Hjort Sørenson (Borgen) even in the somewhat contrived moments. A series for which the term binge watching seems to have been invented! Absolutely worth watching!

Picture + Sound: The overall picture and sound quality of the DVD is on a good to very good TV level. The picture is clean and aside from some slight picture noise in darker sequences, there are no noticeable glitches visible. The color scheme is coherent and underscores the slightly undercool, menacing atmosphere of the story. The sound is primarily dominated by the rather centrally mixed dialogues, but has a few good surround moments to offer every now and then. Good.

Extras: As bonus material, there are some extensive promo interviews with the actors and the creators on the third DVD. Of particular interest here is the interview with a hostage situation and counter-terrorism specialist who worked as a consultant on the series. In all, about 48 minutes of bonus of the conventional, somewhat dry kind.

Conclusion: Greyzone is a tense thriller series that is captivating throughout, despite some clichés and a fairly predictable ending. There are several scenes where the tension is perfectly cranked up a notch, which means that even the quieter moments never feel dull. Great acting and atmospheric production.
