Film: As a young woman, Jane Goodall dedicated her life to researching the lives of chimpanzees. She has lived among the apes on and off for long periods of time, gaining insights that may well be considered groundbreaking. But over the years, Jane Goodall has learned that our planet still has so much to offer that is worth discovering and fighting for. As the founder of the "Jane Goodall Institute for Wildlife Research, Education and Conservation" and a UN Messenger of Peace, Goodall travels the globe most of the year to fight for conservation.

The documentary "Jane`s Journey - The Life Journey of Jane Goodall" allows viewers to get to know this great and important woman and her work better. In addition to small glimpses into her life, the film shows why Goodall has such an incredible impact on the people who meet her. Companions, collaborators, celebrities such as Angelina Jolie and Pierce Brosnan, and relatives all have their say to show interested audiences just what kind of person Goodall, now 76, is.

With great wit and empathy, but also strength and perseverance, Jane Goodall has made an incredibly important contribution to our planet. Unfortunately, the documentary does only limited justice to this contribution. At times it seems as if the makers couldn't quite decide whether they wanted to make a film about Jane Goodall's life or about her work. So here is tried to work off both components, as it were, whereby both again come somewhat too briefly in important aspects.

But this is only a relatively small weak point in an altogether very entertaining, interesting and also moving documentary, which gives one hope back to humanity and awakens the desire that there should be much more people like Jane Goodall. Absolutely worth seeing!

Picture + Sound: As only a data-reduced press sample was available for testing, no rating can be given about the final quality of picture and sound, especially of the German voice-over sound produced especially for the DVD.

Extras: The DVD has a nearly 33-minute talk by Jane Goodall, as well as the trailer to offer. A worthwhile addition to the documentary.

Conclusion: "Jane`s Journey - The life journey of Jane Goodall" is a worthwhile documentary about an admirable woman, in which hopefully many people will still take an example. German voice-over audio has been specially recorded for the DVD, so viewers who are not proficient in English no longer have to concentrate on the subtitles. Recommendable
