Movie: Keith Lemon (Leigh Francis) is tired of only dreaming of success. He wants to finally make it to the top in the real world as well. And so he leaves his hometown of Leeds and his girlfriend Rosie (Laura Aikman) to make a career in London. But his invention of the Securipole, which supposedly protects his car from theft, doesn't really take off. And then, as a numbers dyslexic, he ordered far too many of the bollards from the nasty Steve (Leigh Francis), which of course he now has to pay for. And since Keith lacks the necessary change, Mean Steve kidnaps Rosie without further ado and threatens to kill her if Keith doesn't pay up real quick. Things don't look good at all - until Keith presents a touchscreen cell phone with a shiny lemon on the back in a TV show hosted by David Hasselhoff. Everyone now wants this phone and Keith becomes a filthy rich star. But instead of using his new wealth to free Rosie, he chooses to have fun with model Kelly Brook (Kelly Brook). Will he come to his senses in time to save his Rosie? Back in 2000, the fictional character Keith Lemon, portrayed by British comedian Leigh Francis, appeared in the short-lived satirical show Whatever I Want. Although this was given a very short lifespan, it did not spell the end of Keith Lemon. He was also allowed to live out his fake tan, nasty accent and very special sense of humour in the sketch comedy series Bo` Selecta! between 2002 and 2004. The character quickly became a cult figure in England, followed by his own show (Keith Lemon`s very brilliant World Tour), a comedy game show and various appearances in talk and comedy shows. Of course, this popularity should be exploited, which is why a Keith Lemon feature film of his own seemed like a perfectly logical idea. With Keith Lemon - The Movie, Leigh Francis and his co-writer/director Paul Angunawela have not only managed to get quite a few celebrities to make guest appearances, often lasting only a few seconds. On the site Rotten Tomatoes, where all film reviews are collected and evaluated, they have reached the incredible value of 0% positive reviews. They say the film is one of the worst British comedies of all time, is simply embarrassing, and lacks any form of subversive wit that would otherwise have made Keith Lemon. The comedy is certainly not particularly highbrow or sophisticated. Right off the bat, for instance, the opening scene is a dream sequence in which Keith gets to sneeze on his dream girl Kelly Brook's wonderful horns. Here it becomes immediately clear in which body regions the humor is primarily located. Several tastelessnesses follow and also about partly really terrible masks, with which Francis also appears as Craig David or Mel B, should hardly amuse especially German viewers, who are not familiar with Bo` Selecta! and other works of the comedian. Nevertheless, the comedy is by far not as bad as it was made by the English critics. There have been considerably nastier machinations, especially in recent years. Because Keith Lemon - Der Film has hidden in the jumble of sex and fecal jokes also a few really good gags, where especially the side blows to the Apple cult for a few good laughs. In addition, the German version proves to be a good decision to use comedy veteran Michael Iwannek for the dubbing of Keith Lemon. Iwannek, who has already Chandler in Friends, Alien Roger in American Dad or Zach Galifianakis in the Hangover films, wins by his kind also the not really substantial dialogues quite a certain wit from. Netheless it is clear that at Keith Lemon - The film really only such viewers will have their joy, which are not value on level and humor of the particularly deep-laid kind like. Who can laugh about sperm showers and would like to see how David Hasselhoff, Gary Barlow, Ronan Keating, Jedwood or also Billy Ocean (!) good-humoredly take themselves for a ride, could have a good time here. Everyone else, however, will be inclined to agree with the British critics. Picture + Sound: Rich colours, decent overall sharpness, no smudging or noticeable picture distortions - these are the aspects with which the DVD's visuals can convince. The German sound, which is available as a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix and dts track, also has a few nice surround moments to offer in addition to the clearly understandable mixed dialogue. Not a real sound bump, but more than adequate for a comedy. Good! Extras: No matter what you may think of the film itself, in terms of bonus material, the DVD can fully convince. It starts off with a (non-subtitled) audio commentary by Keith Lemon himself, which he recorded together with his director. The rest of the extras all have optional subtitles. Starting off there's a good making of (approx. 26 mins), which is a rather amusing look at the making of the comedy. There's also a visit to a script meeting (approx. 3:10 mins), a short interview with Douglas played by Kevin Bishop (approx. 1:10 mins), a slightly different ending (approx. 2 mins), as well as some outtakes (approx. 5 mins) and cut scenes (approx. 16 mins). In addition, there is the trailer for the film and other program tips from the provider. There is now really nothing to complain about! Conclusion: Keith Lemon - The film is truly not for fine spirits. The humor is primarily located in the lower body regions and reduced almost entirely to the release of various bodily fluids and salacious sex jokes. Well hidden in between but also some really good gags and amusing guest appearances were placed. Who likes it a little crude and unrestrained silly and does not attach too much importance to level entertainment, could have fun here. The DVD is technically well implemented and has a lot of additional material to offer, which has quite a certain fun factor.
