Film: Inspector Kreutzer (Christoph Maria Herbst) is back! His second case, the investigator must solve in his usual unconventional way in a hospital. And that, although Kreutzer hates hospitals like the plague. Luckily, his faithful assistant Belinda (Rosalie Thomass) is at his side again this time to solve the murder of a doctor. She was brutally run over in the underground car park of the hospital. Suspects are quickly found: her husband and colleague Dr. Roehm (Fahri Yardim), who is having an affair with nurse Ute (Anja Antonowicz). The nurse Peer (Pit Bukowski), who likes to resort to sexual assault. The unscrupulous pharmaceutical saleswoman Lyss (Julia Dietze), who sometimes gets into her clients' pants to achieve her goals. Or the cagey Resmann (Frederick Lau), who watches over his sister in intensive care day and night and has to make the difficult decision of whether or not to turn off the life-support machines. But other doctors and patients also come into question as perpetrators. But Kreutzer is certain: he will solve the case - in exactly 4 hours, 37 minutes and 48 seconds!

Kreutzer comes...to the hospital skillfully mixes jet-black humor with classic detective story elements, scurrility with bitter drama, and satire with slightly exaggerated soap elements. The result of this mixture is a more than enjoyable crime thriller, which in its best moments pleasantly departs from all the usual TV patterns. The sometimes very politically incorrect, sometimes macabre humor, which is served up wonderfully by Christoph Maria Herbst, repeatedly provides hearty laughs that get stuck in your throat the next moment. For the film does not shy away from dark themes, which are sometimes treated in a really dramatic way, then again in a bitterly satirical way.

Organ trafficking, illegal drug testing, sexual coercion, childhood cancer, throat cancer and the decision about the death of a loved one are just some of the topics that Christian Jeltsch has dealt with in his screenplay. It goes without saying that things can't always be cheerful and funny. But what makes Kreutzer kommt...ins Krankenhaus so special is that the whole thing is not too depressing, too silly or too bitter, but that the right mixture has been struck perfectly.

Christoph Maria Herbst is clearly to be seen that he really likes the role of Inspector Kreutzer. The passion he puts into embodying the curious investigator has a very infectious effect on the audience as well. With a good ensemble at his side, Herbst can really shine as the ingenious as well as provocative inspector and it is just really fun to watch him.

May be that Kreutzer comes...to the hospital is too weird and too evil for friends of the more dignified crime entertainment. But for those who appreciate it when a film breaks genre boundaries, doesn't stick to political correctness and doesn't shy away from taboo topics, this second Kreutzer film can be warmly recommended. Absolutely worth seeing!

Picture + Sound: The technical implementation of the film is on a good TV level. The picture is absolutely clean, has a decent image sharpness, which especially in brighter moments also smaller details well. The stereo-only audio focuses mainly on reproducing the dialogue, the sporadic music is well-matched to the dialogue, as are minor sound effects or ambient noises. Good!

Extras: In addition to a short, but worth seeing Making of (approx. 10 min.) and even shorter, but very amusing outtakes (approx. 3 min.), there is also a bonus DVD on which Kreutzer kommt, the first Kreutzer film, is included. For this, of course, there is a: Very good!

Conclusion: Kreutzer comes...to the hospital is a successful return of Christoph Maria Herbst as the unusual investigator Kreutzer. In terms of humor, it is a little more quirky and biting to the point than in the first film, and also the dramaturgy is a little more sophisticated with some surprisingly dark moments. For friends of German crime fare of the weirder variety an absolute must, especially since the DVD also comes with a bonus disc with the first film. Recommendable
