Content: Events in Sherwood Forrest are heading inexorably towards a dramatic conclusion. Meanwhile, as Robin Hood (Jones Armstrong) continues to miss no opportunity to make life difficult for the Sheriff of Nottingham (Keith Allen) and his henchman Guy of Gisborne (Richard Armitage), the Sheriff is preparing everything to have his grand plan to have King Richard killed in the Holy Land put into action. But first, he has to get Robin out of the way. But whether he sets an elite fighter on him, has innocent peasants attacked to draw Robin out, or ambushes his nemesis and his men, Robin Hood always seems one step ahead. But after Robin becomes engaged to the love of his life, Marian (Lucy Griffiths), he has an emotional vulnerability - and it could indeed be his and Marian's undoing...

Robin Hood has built a loyal fan base through a successful blend of classic and modern elements, adventure and romance, humor and drama in season one, and they've already gotten their money's worth in the first half of season two. For the final seven episodes of season two, the series remains true to its style, with the humor that is ever-present at the beginning giving way to bitter drama by the end. And in the end, a dark shadow settles over the series that will continue to influence the third and final season.

This is not to say, of course, that the elements that make up the series' entertainment value are lost. Rather, the creators don't make the mistake of riding their successful concept to death by standing still. They have the courage to say goodbye to characters they have grown fond of, thus giving the proceedings a new, and especially for Robin, much more personal touch, but without changing the basic tone of the series too much.

Although, as with the previous episodes, there are again moments that only work to a certain extent or have a certain superficiality, Robin Hood has long since found its own tone by the end of the second season, which makes this series so entertaining and worth watching despite its weaknesses. And for those who have been with the series from the beginning, the end of the last, very emotional episode will really make you swallow hard. For fans, therefore, this box is also an absolute must!

Picture + Sound: Again, the last seven episodes of the second season of this Robin Hood interpretation have left a very good impression for a TV series. The clean picture pleases with its good, with only isolated scenes that look a bit washed out. In the darker sequences, slight blurring and minimal image noise can also be made out. The color scheme, on the other hand, appears very warm and coherent. Also the sound available in Dolby Digital 5.1 can convince with the new episodes with some good surround effects, but is overall dominated by the dialogue and music. Good!

Extras: Unlike the first part of the second season, this second DVD box has again more bonus material to offer. In addition to three audio commentaries, there is also a making of the second season on the third disc that is worth watching. In addition, there are two more short documentaries, whose titles unfortunately already reveal which of the characters will pass away. If you don't want to spoil the surprise, you should therefore avoid looking too closely at the back of the DVD, as well as at the bonus menu, before you've watched all the episodes. But then these two featurettes are definitely worth watching, because here the two characters are appreciated once again in a really nice way. Even though the bonus material is not quite as extensive as that on season 1.2, fans will get a lot of enjoyment out of these extras.

Conclusion: The conclusion of Robin Hood's second season has not only turned out to be very action-packed, but also extremely dramatic. Fans of the series have to say goodbye to two beloved characters at once. Until it is so far, there is again the successful mixture of adventure, humor and drama, which makes this series despite some dramaturgical weaknesses and clichés so worth watching. In addition to the seven episodes, there are also some nice extras, which makes the purchase of this box set an absolute must, at least for fans. Recommended
