Content: After recently presenting the "best of 25 years", Rüdiger Hoffmann now returns to the stage with new numbers from his ninth program. "obwohl..." shows the comedian from Paderborn in top form. Hoffmann takes an amusing look at the service desert that is Germany and reveals what can happen when a smart city shirt is not folded properly. Or he reveals the horror of a couple's holiday and sets out the advantages of being over 40.
With his amusing everyday observations, Rüdiger Hoffmann returns to his roots. Admittedly, not every gag works (he could have saved himself some side-swipes at current pop culture, such as the size of Sarah Connor's ex, as they come across as a bit stilted) and after watching this program, one can't really claim that Hoffmann has evolved much. But that shouldn't be seen as a negative. Because in the end Hoffmann offers his fans exactly what they expect from him: lots of new gags in a style they've grown to love! And there is really nothing to criticize.
Who wants to know what happens when Olaf and Birte get married, who wants to know more about "Ladies on the Dancefloor" or thinks about joining the "Club of anxious men", can't miss this DVD. Even if there are to hear beside the many successful laughs also some rather bland gags, "obwohl..." is nevertheless under the line a very good start into the next 25 years Rüdiger Hoffmann! For fans, therefore, an absolute must!
Picture + Sound: The clean, clear picture and the harmoniously mixed stereo sound are exactly on the level that should offer a live comedy DVD. Good!
Extras:The DVD still has over half an hour of extras to offer. Besides an interesting look behind the scenes, there are four additional numbers to hear two new songs. Plus a reunion with little Vacek, who also suffered from the financial crisis, and an amusing phone conversation with the "cool" Rocky. Worth seeing!
Conclusion: "obwohl..." is a must for all fans of Rüdiger Hoffmann. With many amusing new numbers, a "Reunion" with some familiar figures and the typical Rüdiger Hoffmann flair, this ninth live program is again a real hit. The DVD is technically on a good level and also has some very nice bonus material for fans. Therefore this disc must not be missing in any good Rüdiger Hoffmann collection!
