Content: Yes hello first. I don't even know if you knew... but Rüdiger Hoffmann has been on stage for 25 years now. And that's a good reason to celebrate the highlights of his career. The DVD "Rüdiger Hoffmann LIVE - The best of 25 years" gathers Hoffmann's best numbers (some of which could be selected by fans via his homepage) in one program. And, in keeping with a true anniversary, it was recorded in a very special location: the Circus Roncalli.

For almost 90 minutes, Rüdiger Hoffmann presents classics in the ring of the traditional circus, such as the ominous "mustard", the story of the "roommate" or a musical ode to the effects of eating legumes. He takes the audience on the "MS Astoria", unravels the mystery of the "Eight Treasures" or shows in "Orange Skin" what kind of poem one(s) should rather not recite to his beloved.

"The Best of 25 Years" is a DVD for fans who can't get enough of Hoffmann's well-known material. The greatest compliment that can be paid to this program is that, despite their age and familiarity, the numbers still work pretty darn well. And maybe that's what makes this recording so special, as there's not even a hint of boredom in any second - no matter how many times you might have heard or seen one or the other number before. About the "roommate" for example, about which I heard Hoffmann talk live for the first time in the mid-nineties in the rather intimate ambience of the auditorium of Giessen University, I can still laugh heartily today, more than 15 years later.

Whether you have been a fan of Rüdiger Hoffmann for 25, 15 or only 5 years, you cannot get past this beautiful and entertaining compilation of some of his best numbers. Absolutely recommendable!

Picture + Sound: The technical realization of the DVD offers exactly what may be expected from a current live production. A clear, clean picture and a well understandable, harmoniously mixed sound. And that's exactly what viewers get here - not much more, but also not less. Good!

Extras: Just under 30 minutes of extras the DVD has to offer, including two bonus numbers: the song "Wie" and the popular ventriloquist number ("Monsieur Renèe...."). Plus an interview with Rüdiger Hoffmann, a tour of the circus and a conversation with Roncalli boss Bernhard Paul. Worth seeing!

Conclusion: 25 years of Rüdiger Hoffmann - for fans, this DVD offers the perfect way to celebrate the anniversary. Besides the content, which presents the best numbers of the comedian in an atmospheric ambience, the neat technical realization and the nice extras please.
