Content: Mick Brisgau is back! The last cop, magnificently embodied by Henning Baum, provides in thirteen new episodes again for breeding and order on the streets of eat. And he does this with his usual coolness and loose sayings, just as it was usual in the 80s. After being in a coma for twenty years, Brisgau jumped back into his job shortly after waking up - only to find that his investigative methods are no longer up to date. But one Mick Brisgau doesn't even think about changing. While his partner Andreas Kringge (Maximilian Grill) adheres closely to strict service regulations and often uses modern techniques to solve cases, Mick sometimes lets his fists do the talking - much to the displeasure of his boss Martin Ferchert (Helmfried von Lüttichau).

In season 2, Mick gets to deal with nude tankers, couples therapists, sausage-grilling campers, male strippers, fortune tellers or murderous members of a Wild West club. He meets an ex-con again who has become a priest in the meantime or has to uncover the murder of a journalist and grievances in a day-care centre and learns what geocaching is all about. With the always appropriate saying on the lips (such as You are so unworldly, you should work in the observatory or A relationship is like a thunderbolt. Sooner or later everyone messes up) and his distinctive nose Mick solves of course also the trickiest cases.

In matters of love, on the other hand, he does not really want to succeed. After the love triangle around Mick, his ex Lisa and her new partner Roland Meisner, is already resolved in the first episode. This does not mean, however, that it will be easier for Mick and his colleagues in love matters. While Mick and his psycho aunt Tanja Haffner (Proschat Madani) seem to have been sizzling ever since their kiss at the end of the first season, the relationship between Andreas and Mick's daughter Isabelle is coming to an end. And also the visit of Andreas` mother (guest star Sonja Kirchberger) ensures that hormones boil up as much as emotions.

Der letzte Bulle could even surpass the ratings success of the first episodes with the episodes of the second season, which is good news for fans of the series, since the success means that there will be at least a third season. Until that happens, you can fall back on the DVDs, because the episodes are still a lot of fun even if you watch them several times. Once again, it is the interplay between Henning Baum and Maximilian Grill that provides the best moments of the individual episodes. The chemistry between the two very different men is just perfect and is certainly, along with the good scripts, the main reason for the success of the series. If you want to convince yourself of this, this DVD box set can be warmly recommended!

Picture + Sound: The technical quality of the DVDs is again at a good TV level with the new episodes, with the picture the well-mixed colors and the satisfactory overall sharpness and the sound of the rich 80s soundtrack can convince. For this there is again a deserved: good!

Extras: In contrast to the first season box, the second season also has some extras to offer. It starts with over 30 minutes of interviews with the actors Henning Baum, Maximilian Grill, Proschat Madani, Robert Lohr, Helmfried von Lüttichau and Tatjana Clasing. In particular, the nearly 8-minute conversation with Maximilian Grill has some very amusing moments to offer.

In addition to the interviews, there are nearly 10 minutes of outtakes, as well as what is described as a featurette compilation of the best scenes from the series. While a behind-the-scenes look would have been nice, compared to the first season's box set, the offerings here are a big step up and a really nice addition for fans of the series.

Conclusion: The Last Cop continues to hit the ground running in its second year. The mix of humor and drama, of crime and comedy works very well in the 13 new episodes. Henning Baum is simply perfectly cast as the cool macho cop and the soundtrack, which he seems to have brought straight from the 80s along with his world view, is great. The three DVDs of the second season box are technically on a good TV level and, unlike the season 1 box, also have some nice extras to offer. All that makes this series not only on TV, but also on DVD: absolutely recommendable!
