Film: Marie (Alexandra Neldel) and her husband Michel (Bert Tischendorf) just can't find peace. At first, the couple seems to finally be able to live the idyll they deserve, as Marie is meanwhile pregnant for the second time. But then Michel is knighted by King Sigismund (Götz Otto), an honour that also brings with it a dangerous duty. For Michel must follow his king into the impending war against the Tartars, leaving his heavily pregnant wife behind alone. The king's cunning mistress, Hulda von Hettenheim (Julie Engelbrecht), takes advantage of this situation to spin a diabolical intrigue. She kidnaps Marie's newborn boy and passes him off as the result of her passionate nights with King Sigismund. Marie has her declared dead and leaves the desperate woman in the hands of the giant Andreij (Michael Steinacher), the foster son of the Tatar prince Terbent Kahn, by whom Marie is henceforth kept as a slave. The former wandering whore knows that she has to get along with Andreij, fulfill his wishes, in order to eventually be able to thwart Hulda's plans and reunite with her torn family. But the longer she spends in captivity, the more hopeless the situation becomes...

After The Wandering Whore was able to lure over 10 million and The Revenge of the Wandering Whore still over 8 million viewers in front of the TV sets, a third and final part was also quickly decided. Again based on the bestseller by Iny Lorentz, The Wandering Whore's Legacy brings Marie Adler's story to a fitting conclusion. Director Thomas Nennstiel remains absolutely faithful to the style of his predecessors. Historical accuracy should not be expected, as well as high-quality dialogues or a multi-layered dramaturgy.

Instead, the viewer is again offered a nicely equipped medieval soap, which will satisfy the fans of the Wanderhure - which of course is no longer one - with intrigue, romance, sex, a little action and of course the strong main character. It is noticeable that Alexandra Neldel this time rather demurely covered. Erotic fire is kindled in the third part by Julie Engelbrecht, who as Hulda von Hettenheim is not only extremely evil, but also very sexy. This mixture makes the nasty Hulda the most interesting character of the film, while Marie's self-sacrifice makes her look a bit pale, especially in the first half of the film, and she is so easily outshone by the supporting characters, such as the slave Alika (Florence Kasumba) or the loyal Marat (Ill-Young Kim).

The Legacy of the Wandering Whore is, of course, dramaturgically nothing more than typical TV entertainment. Template-like characters and clichéd dialogues were already components of the two predecessors and are again not the exception, but unfortunately the rule. But the film is neither made for historians, nor for the feuilleton, but for fans of the first two parts. And they get here exactly what they can expect from the conclusion of the Wanderhure trilogy. Sure, there's a lot to gripe about in this work. But as long as the audience, for whom the film is made, is well entertained and it is recognizable that the people involved in aspects like the set, the costumes and also the acting have made an effort to offer their audience a certain quality, a film like The Wandering Whore's Legacy has an absolute right to exist. And therefore applies to all fans: Worth seeing!

Picture + Sound: Since only a data-reduced press sample was available for the test, no rating can be given here about the final image and sound quality.

Extras: Also the bonus material could not be sighted on the press sample. Announced are approximately 19 minutes of extras, consisting of a making of, a music video, and the trailer.

Conclusion:The Legacy of the Wandering Whore is the conclusion to the trilogy surrounding the wandering whore Marie Adler. Historical accuracy or sophisticated dialogue should not be expected in the third film. But those who were already well entertained by the two predecessors will also enjoy this mixture of drama, suspense, sex and romance. For fans therefore also: Recommended!
