Movie: Tim (Tim Heidecker) and Eric (Eric Wareheim) have it made: powerful Hollywood producer and heavily wealthy businessman Tommy Schlaaang (Robert Loggia) gives them a billion dollars to make a big Hollywood movie. Too bad the two have no talent whatsoever for such an endeavor and blow every penny on completely unnecessary things. The movie they deliver is a real disaster. It is only a few minutes long and the lead actor is not the real Johnny Depp, but a very bad double. So it's no wonder that Schlaaang is mighty pissed and wants his billion dollars back. But where are two losers like Tim and Eric going to get that kind of money? The solution might present itself to them in the form of a rundown shopping mall. If they manage to turn the old shopping mall into a lucrative and modern place in no time, a whopping profit supposedly beckons them, with which they could pay off all their debts. But to do so, they must first close the unattractive stores, evict the homeless, and capture a dangerous wolf that has declared the mall its hunting ground. And those are the least of their problems...

Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim have made a name for themselves in the U.S. as a comedy duo in various Internet clips and low-budget sketches in which they have repeatedly pushed the boundaries of political correctness and good taste. After their TV show ended, they continued their quirky and very unique style in Tim & Eric`s Billion Dollar Movie. With the support of well-known colleagues such as Jeff Goldblum, Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis (Hangover), they deliver a truly merciless gag fireworks, which seems to be too good for no no matter how embarrassing zote. No question: who expects profundity or intellectual level here, will turn off the film after a few minutes shaking his head.

Who likes this kind of very weird, irreverent and infantile humor, will be deliciously amused by the attempts of Tim and Eric to make a real money source out of the run-down mall. Some of the gags are actually really good and have an unexpected profundity. Other scenes, however, are really borderline. There is one scene in particular that seems to redefine the term fecal humor and could make some viewers really nauseous. But that's exactly Tim and Eric's trademark: crossing (pain) boundaries and undercutting levels. And they truly succeed more than once here.

Since Tim and Eric are unlikely to be familiar to many German comedy fans, two currently quite popular voices were hired for the dubbing: those of the presenter duo Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf. The fact that Joko and Klaas are not professional voice actors is noticeable in the dubbing. But it's also noticeable that the two of them definitely took pleasure in translating the extreme jokes of their US colleagues into German. And this obvious pleasure is then also, which makes the German version with small deductions quite successful - and that is especially in the genre comedy no matter of course.

Tim & Eric`s Billion Dollar Movie is trash. That seems to be exactly how the makers intended it to be. Whether you find it funny or just silly and tasteless, that`s absolutely a matter of taste, especially with a bad-button humor movie like this. But what you can't deny Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim is that they absolutely follow through with their style and clearly don't give a damn about critics. All they care about is having fun and passing it on to their fans. If you like it especially raunchy, coarse and unrestrained silly, you will definitely find some good reasons to laugh here!

Picture + Sound: The film does not look like a billion dollars were poured into its implementation. But convincing the picture and sound quality of the Blu-Ray are all. The very clean picture pleases with powerful colors and good detail. The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix has some good surround effects to offer, but is largely dominated by the very centrally mixed dialogue and soundtrack. Good!

Extras: The disc still has plenty of additional material to offer. It starts with a (unfortunately not subtitled) audio commentary of the two directors / main actors, who are again true to their very special humor and besides some real information about the making of the film also quite a few not entirely serious remarks from him. This is sometimes very funny, as long as you share their sense of humor. However, since the commentary has not been subtitled, only fans with a good command of English can laugh at it.

The video extras include some deleted scenes (approx. 9 min.), a few extended moments (approx. 19 min.), a short making of (approx. 9 min.), an amusing interview (approx. 23 min.), various promos, a picture gallery, the trailer for the film and a shim dance screensaver. If you were already able to laugh at the film, you will also be able to discover some good laughs here. Good!

Conclusion: Tim & Eric`s Billion Dollar Movie is truly not for the feint of heart. The comedy is unrestrainedly silly, bizarre, and extremely tasteless at almost every moment. If you like weird comedy, which sometimes seems almost experimental, if you can laugh at fecal humor, infantile gags and movies of comedians like Will Ferrell, you will certainly have a lot of fun with this zoten fireworks. But be warned: in at least one scene you'll need a damn strong stomach, because that's where it gets really gross! And of all things, there's more of this scene to see in the entertaining bonus material!
