Content: It's a morning like any other, really. As soon as the alarm clock jumps from 7:59 to 7:60, Dolph (Jack Plotnick) has to get up and head to the job he was fired from weeks ago. But something is different about this day. Dolph's beloved dog, Paul, is gone. He's nowhere in the house and Dolph's neighbor, who decided to spontaneously leave for a new life, hasn't seen Paul either. His search leads Dolph to the mysterious guru Chang (William Fichtner), who admits to kidnapping Paul because Dolph didn't care enough for the four-legged friend. Unfortunately, he can't return the dog to him, as Paul has been missing since the car in which he was being transported crashed. A dog detective might be able to help, if he didn't need help himself. But that's just the beginning of a bizarre odyssey that has many a surprise in store for Dolph...

After telling us the story of a car tire turned murder machine out of heartbreak in Rubber, filmmaker Quentin Dupieux stays true to his surreal, completely idiosyncratic style in his latest directorial effort Wrong. There's an office where it's constantly raining, which seems to be perfectly normal for the staff, a detective who can map Paul's feces memories as video, a neighbor who persistently denies jogging even though Dolph watches him do it every morning, an alarm clock that sometimes reads 7:60 a.m., and many other little and big unusual things.

This is very special and takes some getting used to - but it's also truly unique. Dupieux manages, in a very quirky yet somehow poetic and beautiful way, to take a small, almost inconsequential story and turn it into something memorable. Sure, there are scenes where you wonder what mind-altering substances the director has taken to come up with such ideas. There's a humor on display that's truly not everyone's cup of tea, but it's filled with imagination, profundity, and completely bonkers weirdness - a mixture that actually has to be seen to be believed that a film like this really exists.

Wrong is anything but mainstream cinema fit for the masses. It is a very unusual comedy that you have to get involved with to be able to fall into the whimsical world of Quentin Mr. Oizo Dupieux and discover the genius of this work there. For viewers who like to get involved in such experiments and appreciate cinema of the completely weird kind, this work is absolutely worth seeing!

Picture + Sound: The image of the DVD reproduces the somewhat unreal atmosphere of the film well through a slightly over-stylized color scheme. The visuals are also convincing in terms of overall sharpness and cleanliness. The tonal action is very quiet, with the surround speakers rarely really getting much to do. But scenes where ambient sounds such as rain are used alongside the dialogue create a coherent surround atmosphere. Good!

Extras: As a bonus, there is a Making of (approx. 17 min.), but this does not offer a look behind the scenes in the conventional sense. Rather, this is simple home video footage of various people (including the actors) reading excerpts from the script. The trailer for the film and other programming tips from the provider are also still on the program.

Conclusion:Wrong consistently continues the extremely whimsical tone that director Quentin Dupieux already struck in the car-tire horror Rubber. The film is weird, wacky, unpredictable and very, very special. If you're into it, you can have a lot of fun. But if you're expecting a straight comedy, you're completely wrong! For friends of the surreal but absolutely recommendable!
