Dennis Seidel / Ladies and Gentlemen (D)
Queer Fringe Feminism Meets David Lynch: Dennis Seidel, internationally acclaimed writer and performer with an officially certified "intellectual disability," makes the stage unsafe with a women's Western musical. "This play brings a lot of tension and also emotion. There's shooting and killing and also crying and laughing," says Dennis Seidel of his project, in which he himself plays "journalist Laura Johnsson," who "does research in the wild west for singing horses like blue jeans. Or is she not a journalist?"
Following his hit play The Day Kennedy Was Assassinated and Mimmi Kennedy Became President, which was seen at Grenzenlos Kultur last year, Seidel now comes to Mainz with his third directorial effort. This evening is again a wild mix of film quotes, soap opera and gender swapping, but also asks what authorship means.
